Persepolisの建立は紀元前５１２年にダレイオス１世の時代に始まり、紀元前３３１年にアレクサンダー大王によって陥落されたというから、とにかくすごく古い遺跡らしい。現在でも当時の栄華を物語る繊細なレリーフ群が残されていて興味深かったのだけれども、僕は公園のようにきれいに整えられたこの遺跡で時間の流れを感じることはなかった。
